Griffin Serves as Investment Banker to The MPI Group, LLC in its Sale to Advantage Capital

The MPI Group, LLC (“MPI” or the “Company”) is a premier manufacturer of custom steel doors and frames for distribution nationally and internationally. The Company was founded in 1980 and is based in Corbin, KY. MPI was a portfolio company of Main Street Capital Corporation (NYSE:MAIN), who also separately owned the Company’s manufacturing facility.

Situation
Main Street introduced new management to the Company in 2017, which quickly resulted in growth to both revenue and profitability. After holding MPI as a portfolio company for over a decade, Main Street determined that the success of the Company’s management team had created an opportune time to exit from its investment and made the decision to seek proposals from potential acquirers.

Solution
MPI and Main Street engaged Griffin to manage a sale process. Advantage Capital was ultimately selected as the successful purchaser for both the operating business and the real estate. The transaction closed in January 2020.
