Griffin Advises Clean Earth in its Acquisition of Kleen Soil

Company Overview
Clean Earth, Inc. is a Hatboro, Pennsylvania-based processor of contaminated soil and provider of waste logistics. The company provides solutions for facilities-based treatment, disposal and beneficial reuse of soil, dredge and other non-hazardous materials. The company has approximately $130 million in revenue and is private equity-owned by LittleJohn & Co.

Situation
Griffin assisted Clean Earth’s corporate development group in identifying and contacting potential acquisition candidates that would expand the company’s geographic presence. As part of this initiative, Griffin identified Kleen Soil, based in Moore Haven, Florida. Griffin interviewed the company’s owner and conducted sufficient due diligence to determine that Kleen Soil was an attractive acquisition target for Clean Earth.

Solution
Clean Earth acquired Kleen Soil, which is a soil treatment business, in November 2011. This acquisition is now Clean Earth’s southern-most facility. Griffin served as financial advisor to Clean Earth in the acquisition.
